Cagayan Valley Region Stages 3rd Pagyaya Festival in Intramuros Wednesday, October 05, 2005

The Department of Tourism (DOT) Cagayan Valley Region announces the staging of the 3rd Pagyaya Festival in Intramuros from October 7 to 23, 2005.

This is part of the Department’s campaign “I © Philippines! Biyahe Na!”
highlighting the theme “Sports Tourism and Adventure Tour Program
(Lakas-Bisig Pinoy)”.

Pagyaya na Cagayan Valley Region ta Intramuros will feature five provinces (Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, and Quirino) and three cities (Cauayan Santiago, and Tuguegarao) of the region showcasing its tourism products attractions and services, trade and investment opportunities, and its rich cultural heritage, including talents of the performing arts.

According to DOT Region II Director Blessida Diwa, a mass will commence the grand opening of the 17-day celebration. A Parade of Festivals at the Plaza San Ignacio Ruins will follow presenting the county’s various fiestas, such as Payuhwan Festival of Batanes, Panagdadapun Festival of Quirino, Gawagaway-yan Festival of Cauayan City, and Pav-vurulun Festival of Tuguegarao City.

Diwa added that the sports and adventure tourism destinations of the region would be accentuated in all the activities and exhibit showcase like the rock-wall climbing, spelunking, and caving.

For the business-minded and travel enthusiasts, numerous booths would be put up to sale gifts, toys, house wares, processed and fresh fruits and
vegetables inside the Clamshell while furniture sellers from all over the
region will have their own stands at the Plaza San Ignacio Ruins. Meanwhile, native dishes such as Tuguegarao Longganisa, rice cakes like inatata, muriekos, and binallay, and the Pancit Cabagan of Isabela and Pancit Batil Patung of Tuguegarao City are going to available at the Bahay Tagala.

For the devotees of Our Lady of Piat, the pilgrim image will be at Clamshell 1 for the whole duration of the regional celebration. Masses will also be said on designated dates.

In addition, Pagyaya Food Festival will also take place at the Sulo Hotel,
located at Matalino Road, Diliman, Quezon, City, through the Pistang Sulo on October 3 to 14, 2005. The 12-day food fest will feature Ibanag, Ilocano, and Itawes dishes. A fee of Php430.50 for lunch and Php325.00 for dinner will guarantee the guests a taste of the Cagayan Region’s sumptuous cuisine.

Pagyaya, which means merrymaking and joyful gathering, promises a one-stop entertainment venue for all visitors. This will of course be made possible through the overwhelming support and cooperation of the local government units, private sector groups, the academe, and the Cagayan Valley Region’s line agencies.
