Durano to lead DOT with transparency
The newly appointed Tourism
Secretary Joseph "Ace" H. Durano vowed
to be transparent in his management of the DOT during the turnover ceremony
at the DOT Quadrangle today.
"Most of my critics tried to compare me with my predecessors,
but I don't have to match up with them or out perform them. Instead
I will continue the momentum they left," Durano said.
He added "There
are three things that you can expect from me and they are: transparency,
result-oriented and professionalism."
The US educated, 35-year old Cebu legislator Durano acknowledged
the warm welcome given by the DOT family. He also thanked former
Secretary Roberto Pagdanganan for the well-organized reception.
"We will continue to have a strong partnership and coordination
with the agencies involved in tourism development such as DENR,
DPWH and DOTC as well as our partnership with the business sectors
who are the one that delivers the services." Durano said.
Durano cited that the DOT is more of a facilitator, which channels
the need of the industry and communicates it to all concerned.
"I am willing to continue what has been started by my predecessors
and incorporate innovation, if necessary. My line is always open
for communication and I enjoin you to work with me in the development
of tourism in the country." added Durano.
