ORTIGAS CENTER.
This was the number one place to go to in Manila for most foreign
visitors. The comments ranged from the great shopping places
(and prices!) to the nightlife experience. Some comments:
“This humongous mall called Megamall offers you anything you want
at the cheapest prices. My $100 got me the following: a jacket,
a pair of leather shoes, 4 shirts, a pair of jeans and some music
cds. Not to mention a good meal at this Japanese restaurant 'teriyaki
boy'. I could not believe it!!”
“Ortigas Centre is bound to be the next business and entertainment
district this side of the country. The very promising centre is
sure to give Makati a run for its money with the 3rd largest shopping
mall in the world (The Megamall) combined with 2 other world class
chic shopping malls (The Shangri-La and the Galleria) with the
High-Class Podium Mall in tag (which is just a stone's throw away
to each other), not to mention the recent opening of the Metrowalk
will surely delight any travelers that is bound to be in the area.”
”Safety is no problem as there are security guards in most places.
The Philippines is a shopping mecca. Great night life too!!”
“Entertainment and nightlife are no problem at the Ortigas Center
because of the offerings that can be found on the St. Francis Square
and the El Pueblo situated in the heart of the district. Classy
restaurants, clubs and coffee shops abound the area.”
AYALA CENTER
Manila visitors showed their penchant for shopping and malling,
fine dining and luxurious accommodations with their choice of
the Ayala Center as the second-best place to go to in Manila.
Some comments:
“My travel agent asked me to try out the Philippines. I was hesitant at first
because I have never set foot on the country before and I would also be bringing
my three kids … As soon as we got to Manila, I knew that (we would) have a
grand time. We stayed at a beautiful hotel in Makati (The Peninsula Manila),
a stone's throw away (from) Ayala Centre. Ayala Centre is truly a WORLD CLASS
Shopping and Entertainment district. I almost spent my entire savings on the
thousands of items that are on sale in the area. Name it, they've got it! “
“I can’t wait to go back! I love Ayala! Its a one cool place...”
“Everything is there! The Prada, Gucci, name it, they have it.
They even have those "tiangge" stuff or what you
would call cheap stuff but with quality. You got to go there!
There’s Hard Rock Cafe to party at in Glorietta
3 Ayala, there’s the Cafe Havana in Greenbelt Ayala to party with friends
when you want to listen to cool music and have a drink, or just chill and
read a book in Starbucks coffee (I think its all over the place)”
NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE PHILIPPINES
Finally, a bit of culture for our worldly Manila travelers. The
National Museum ranks third in Manila’s best places to visit.
Some comments:
“Their National Museum in the Philippines is simply the best!”
“Manila was really great. All the people were very helpful and they always
greet tourists with warm welcoming smiles. And the national museum, oh it
was amazing! All the antiques were kept incredibly well. And almost all of
them are still in good condition.”

INTRAMUROS
For a bit of old-world charm, the place to go to in Manila is historic
Intramuros, which finished fourth in the list of best things
to do in Manila. Some comments:
“Very impressive photos. Lots of different angles & scenic
view of Intramuros and related locations.”

MANILA CATHEDRAL
For those who yearn for quiet and tranquility, there’s no other
place like the Manila Cathedral, number five in the list of best
things to do in Manila. Some comments:
“Very Impressive!”
“Come to this cathedral in mid-afternoon, when the sunlight strikes
the stained glass windows which truly radiate. There are several
groups of stained glass windows, each with a theme, though the
main one is that of the Virgin Mary's life. The color is brilliant,
and mainly tropical. Outside, the statues of saints are worth exploring,
while the central door has panels to inform you of the building's
history. Supposedly, the first cathedral at this site was built
in the late 1500s, and the different cathedrals have been erected
and destroyed. Manila Cathedral is the sixth, I believe, to be
built on this site.”

UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES
Looking for a place that combines the charm of a nature park with
the academic atmosphere of a university? You’re looking for the
University of the Philippines. Some comments:
“UP Diliman for me is synonymous to a university park with its
myriad of centers, events, sights, and things to do. Aside from
the serene academic atmosphere one breathes upon entering the campus,
the university is a self-serving community with its own shopping
center, hotel, churches, cinema, theater, public transport, barangay
hall, etc.”
“Being planned like the universities in the US, its tree-lined
streets and grass-covered rolling hills remind one that UP is the
former American University of the Philippines.”
SANTO DOMINGO CHURCH
Another of Manila’s fine churches makes it to the top 10 list of
things to do in Manila, ranking at number seven. Some comments:
“A great church, it was actually home for the victorious image of La Naval.
It is truly one of the few great churches in QC, a must-see spot in Manila.”

CELEBRITY SPORTS CLUB
Rated #8 for all Things To Do

GREENBELT PARK
Rated #9 for all Things To Do
Greeenbelt Park is the best
“I was so amazed … to experience the Greenbelt Park. I’ve been
to a lot of places in the world such as Europe, China, Japan,
Canada, Hongkong, and I would say the Greenbelt Park is one of
the most fun places to go -- great food, entertainments coffee
shops with delicious and well presented pastries ("better
than the US Starbucks"), beautiful and relaxing environment,
lots of beautiful and friendly people and most of all its clean
and stylish. Keep it up!! Whoever maintains the place, we had
too much fun!”

MANILA BAY
