MANILA – CAPITAL OF THE PHILIPPINES
The Philippine capital is a place where
you can see a blend of cultures and historic places that will capture
the heart of an individual. Foreigners are fascinated by the magnificent
view of the world-famous Manila Bay and its golden sunset.
At the heart of Manila we can see Intramuros,
which is often called the “Walled City”. It was constructed during 1571,
during the Spain’s colonization of the Philippines, it comprised of
European buildings and churches that have been replicated in different
parts of the archipelago. The dungeons and old churches was used for
art galleries, theaters, and nature park.
At the center of Intramuros is the famous
Manila Cathedral, the seat of the Catholic Archdiocese of Manila. Then
there is San Agustin Church, the oldest stone church in Metro Manila.
At the northwestern tip is where you can find Fort Santiago, one of
the oldest buildings in Intramuros, which was built over nearly 150
years through Filipino forced labor, which have now been converted into
a lush park.
Manila is the home of Malacanang Palace,
the official residence of the President of the Philippines and one of
the most historic structures in the Philippines. The National Museum
of the Philippines, the official repository and guardian of the Philippine
cultural, historical and natural heritage. The Rizal Park, the famous
park in Manila, which was called “Luneta”. Along the northern part of
the historic Pasig River is Chinatown, a symbol of the long history
of Chinese presence in the Philippines. Today it is the important trade
and business center and bargain-shopping destination.
Five-star hotels and restaurants, some
of them were built in historic buildings. The popular places such as
Malate and Ermita are the perfect place to unwind because of the many
choices of different restaurants, clubs, bars, cafes, art and antique
shop.
Truly, Manila captures the heart not
only of its local residents, but as well the hearts of the foreigners
who visit the place.
