Museums in ManilaWhen I was in my high school days, I was not very fond of history, but thanks to our Museums here in Manila I am beginning to understand what I should know about the past. Museums are very helpful for us to discover our history and for us to appreciate what we have today. It helps us to be a part of what have happened long time ago. Here are some of the Museums that you can find in Manila. Malacanang Museum It is called the Kalaayaan Hall, a wing of the Palace, which is open to the public as a Philippine President Museum. The said museum features all former Presidents of the Philippines. It is one of the most visited historical landmarks in the country today. San Agustin Museum It is a private museum under the supervision of the Augustinian Friars is housed inside the Old Monastery of the church. It comprised of 26 huge oil paintings of saints, antiques, collection of colonial religious art, antique carrosas. Casa Manila It is a colonial lifestyle museum which is part of Plaza San Luis Complex. The house which is rebuilt of the original house that stood on the same site was patterned after a mid-19th century house that stood along Calle de Jaboneros in San Nicolas, Binondo. The house features antique and furnishing from China and Europe dating back to the 19th century. Some of the famous collections inside are the crystal chandeliers, Persian rygs, Chinese ceramics, four poster ebony bed, religious images, antique piano and harp, marble tables and such other items that shows luxury of the era. National Museum of the Philippines This museum is the repository and guardian of the Philippines' natural and cultural heritage. As one of the lead government cultural agencies, it is tasked to achieve the goals of instilling cultural consciousness and a sense of pride and nationalism among Filipino citizens through its activities covering the sciences, education and culture. Museo Pambata The Museo Pambata is a children's interactive museum, the first of its kind in the Philippines. In here children can use their total senses and learn various concepts at their own pace. It excites the minds of the young, inspires them to learn more, and most importantly revitalizes what child learning should be – fun and exciting! Enriching ones knowledge based on our history helps us to develop awareness not only for ourselves but to the next generation to come.
