If it were only about its history and culture, much has already been
said
and written about Ilocos Region. However, these are just one aspect
of the region’s many facets. On 5 to 17 December 2005 at the Clamshell
1 in Intramuros, the Department of Tourism (DOT) will showcase Ilocos
in a more dynamic approach as they focus the spotlight to the region’s
great outdoor activities.
Tourism Secretary Ace Durano affirmed, “Blessed with more than 700
kilometers of South China Sea’s coastline lying on the west and a
portion of the Cordillera Mountain Ranges towering on the east, it
has indeed more adventures to offer than what we can imagine.”
Dubbed as Ilocos Region: More Than You Can Imagine, the tourism exhibit
will formally open on December 5 at 3:30 in the afternoon and will
feature sports, fun, and other adventures that visitors may enjoy.
Each of the district’s provinces is scheduled to hold its own day
to present its local products and attractions. La Union Day is
set on 7th, while Pangasinan will take center stage on the 10th.
Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur will have their respective turns on
the 11th and 17th. Moreover, a thanksgiving mass and procession
of Miraculous Ladies in the Ilocos Region will take place on the
14th.
